Windstorms & Beauty
By Julie Keene
One of my favorite statements, gleaned from the Master Mind prayer technique is: “On the
human level my life is unmanageable.” Unless I can release the blocks, fears, and anxieties of the human level, I get stuck in the
problem, on the level of the problem. I have to take it to the level of Spirit for solutions. Certainly this is what we do whenever
we pray or meditate. But sometimes we become so stuck in the problem that we have difficulty praying or meditating. Yet, we need to
remember that a prayer can be a single word or phrase, or a very simple statement, perhaps even a visual prayer such as seeing ourselves
surrounded by the light. God always hears. God always answers. All we need is the intent to lift our consciousness up to a higher
level. We also can hold ourselves back if we are carrying a load of guilt or if we are blaming someone or something else for our situation.
“Release, release, release,” I often say to myself. We must not allow our mistakes, wounds, resentments and frustrations defeat us;
we can use them as learning devices to shape and mold us into more loving and compassionate beings.
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross reminds us, “Should you shield the canyons from the windstorms, you would never see the beauty of their carvings.”
In Earth School, windstorms-challenges-come to all of us, and they carve us into the unique beings that we are. There is nothing to
be gained by resenting and resisting our challenges. There is much to be gained by seeing them for what they are-opportunities to
refine our souls here in Earth School. When we can do that, we have transcended the human level, transcended what the founders of
Unity called “race consciousness.” We have taken an evolutionary giant step forward.
As I counsel and pray with people, we acknowledge
that “on the human level, our lives are unmanageable” and we ask for Spirit to lift us up into a higher dimension. Its then that we
behold the beauty of our souls and that the windstorms of our lives have carved into being. Then, we can bless it all.
Love and
Blessings, Julie
