Welcome to the Labyrinth!
We are blessed at Garden Park Unity with a labyrinth painted on our parking lot.  The Labyrinth is a path of prayer; an archetype of unity and wholeness.  It is one continuous path toward the center, then back again.  A labyrinth is not a maze.  It has only one path and no dead ends.  The labyrinth is a metaphor for our journey through life.  It has been compared to a walking meditation.  Labyrinths bring the eternal now -- we step out of linear time as we walk the winding path.  Each time you walk the labyrinth you become more empowered to find and do what your soul is seeking.
.
The Garden Park Unity Labyrinth is modeled upon the labyrinth found in the tile floor at Chartres Cathedral in France.  Built around 1220, it was created to simulate a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
The metaphysical definition for "Jerusalem" is "the dwelling place of peace.”  Labyrinths are part of the mystical traditionthat looks for a direct connection to the Divine and seeks real transformation of human nature.  The mystical traditions unify all of the world's spiritual wisdom.  By  walking the labyrinth we  can slow the inner world down enough so that the inner and outer worlds are connected a sense of awe, wonder, or union may arise when this occurs.
